University of West London: Case Study


The University of West London (UWL) implemented a decarbonisation project aimed at achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2030.

As part of a broader range of decarbonisation measures encompassing various renewable energy sources and technologies, L McCann Electrical were responsible for LED lighting upgrades across 2 University campuses. The overall project was estimated to reduce over 500 tonnes of CO2 annually, achieving the highly commended designation in the Decarbonisation Project category of the Energy Managers Association’s (EMA) Energy Management Awards. L McCann Electrical helped UWL to achieve:

Carmarthenshire Council


L McCann Electrical Ltd played a leading role in the design and installation of LED lighting across Carmarthenshire County Council’s (CCC) estate, to help CCC meet the council target of Net Zero Carbon by 2030.

Multiple lighting audits were carried out, consisting of; site visits, data analysis and discussions with building occupants and stakeholders to provide the best LED lighting solution for each facility. As part of a broad range of ECMs (Energy Conservation Measures) implemented, L McCann Electrical Ltd helped CCC to achieve:

Significant carbon emissions reduction (675 tonnes per year) and annual energy costs (£315K)

Reduced energy consumption of lighting 60-70%

Modern upgrades to ageing lighting infrastructure

Improved comfort levels for staff and building users

Improved quality of lighting for building occupants

West Lothian Council


Through the Non Domestic Energy Efficiency (NDEE) framework for Public Sector Bodies, L McCann Electrical were responsible for the design and installation of LED across 23 West Lothian sites, including primary and high schools, community centres, care facilities, and a fitness centre.
